Routes & Maps vs Upper
Upper is a delivery route planner priced per user, with plans that cap stops per route and driver profiles. Routes & Maps charges a monthly plan with a stop allowance and has no limit on drivers or users. This page sets out where each fits, what each costs, and what to check before you choose.
The short answer
If you want routing that takes traffic into account, navigation inside the driver app (as an add-on), and you have a small, steady team, Upper is a good fit. If your team is growing or seasonal and you want one price for everyone, or you plan recurring service visits, Routes & Maps is simpler to budget.

- You want turn-by-turn navigation inside the driver app (an add-on).

- You want proof of delivery on every plan, not from a higher tier.

What it costs
Upper charges per user, and its pricing page does not say whether each driver needs a paid user, so we show its price per user on the plan whose driver-profile limit fits each team. Routes & Maps is shown for the whole team. Stops a month assume 22 working days.

Excludes taxes and add-ons such as in-app navigation. Upper prices are from its pricing page; Routes & Maps prices are our current plans, with unlimited drivers and users.
Small team? We price by stops, not drivers. If our standard plans are more than you need, talk to sales about a Custom plan sized to your monthly stops.
What Upper does better
Traffic in its routing
Upper says its routes take traffic into account: its pricing page describes "historical traffic data" and its how-it-works page mentions "real-time traffic". Routes & Maps does not use traffic when it plans routes.
Navigation inside the app
Upper offers turn-by-turn directions inside its driver app as an add-on. The Routes & Maps app hands each stop to Google Maps or Waze.
SMS for customers
Upper lists customer notifications on its Professional plan and SMS updates as an add-on priced per text. Routes & Maps sends email only.
Published prices for every tier
Upper lists monthly and yearly prices for each plan, with the stop, driver and address-book limits of each one.
What Routes & Maps does better
Price that does not grow with your team
Plans include a monthly stop allowance instead of a per-driver fee, and every plan has unlimited drivers and users. Adding a seasonal driver, a part-time technician or another dispatcher does not change the bill.
No cap on stops per route
Upper caps stops per route by plan (250 on Starter). Routes & Maps plans count stops per month, not per route, so a long route is not a reason to change plan.
Recurring visits on any cycle
The address book schedules repeat visits weekly, every few weeks, monthly, or on patterns like "2nd Tuesday", with no limit on how far ahead. A calendar shows what is coming up, and each customer's last visit is tracked so you can see who is due. You still choose the day; Routes & Maps does not pick it for you.
Planning modes for harder days
Some routes are more than a list of drops. Routes & Maps can plan deliver-and-reload days, where drivers go back to the depot or a refill station to reload mid-route (on request); pick-up-and-dump days, where drivers collect and empty at a dump site (on request); pick up at one address and drop off at another (on request); and stops spread over several days in one plan (the Starter and Growth plans, or on request).
