Routes & Maps vs OptimoRoute
Both tools plan and optimize multi-stop routes for delivery and field service teams, and both come with a driver app. The biggest difference is how you pay: OptimoRoute charges per driver, while Routes & Maps charges a monthly plan with a stop allowance and unlimited drivers. This page sets out where each one fits, what each costs for a few example teams, and what to check before you choose.
The short answer
If you have one or two drivers, or you want the software to choose the day for each visit up to five weeks ahead, OptimoRoute suits you well. If you have a bigger team and want the bill to stay the same as you add drivers, technicians or dispatchers, or you schedule recurring visits on long cycles, Routes & Maps is simpler to budget.
Pick OptimoRoute if…
- You have one or two drivers and want the lowest monthly price.
- You want the software to pick the day for each visit (Weekly Planning on Pro looks up to five weeks ahead).
- You want a 30-day trial.
- You need an API or ready-made integrations such as Shopify, Salesforce or NetSuite.
Pick Routes & Maps if…
- You have several drivers or technicians and want to add more without raising your bill.
- You schedule recurring visits on long or irregular cycles, such as monthly or "2nd Tuesday".
- Several people in your office plan or adjust routes together.
- You want proof of delivery on every plan, not only on a higher tier.

Excludes taxes. OptimoRoute's cheaper Lite plan is $35.10 per driver a month billed annually, without proof of delivery or Weekly Planning. OptimoRoute prices are from its pricing page; Routes & Maps prices are our current plans.
Small team? We price by stops, not drivers. If our standard plans are more than you need, talk to sales about a Custom plan sized to your monthly stops.
What OptimoRoute does better
It picks the day for each visit
OptimoRoute's Weekly Planning (Pro plan, switched on by its team on request) decides which day each visit happens, looking up to five weeks ahead. Routes & Maps does not choose the day: you set the schedule and it plans the routes. If you want the software to make that call, OptimoRoute does and we don't.
Lower price for one or two drivers
Per-driver pricing works in your favour when the team is small. One driver on Lite is $35.10 a month billed annually, two are $70.20. If that is your whole operation, compare it with our cheapest plan in the table above.
A longer free trial
The trial runs 30 days with Pro features, up to 250 orders, and no credit card. Ours is 7 days.
An API and ready-made integrations
OptimoRoute includes its API on every plan and lists integrations such as Shopify, Salesforce, Oracle NetSuite and Zapier. Routes & Maps has no public API or ready-made integrations today; stops come in by import or by hand.
What Routes & Maps does better
Price that does not grow with your team
Plans include a monthly stop allowance instead of a per-driver fee, and every plan has unlimited drivers and users. Adding a seasonal driver, a part-time technician or another dispatcher does not change the bill.
Recurring visits on any cycle
The address book schedules repeat visits weekly, every few weeks, monthly, or on patterns like "2nd Tuesday", with no limit on how far ahead. A calendar shows what is coming up, and each customer's last visit is tracked so you can see who is due. You still choose the day; Routes & Maps does not pick it for you.
Proof of delivery on every plan
Drivers capture photos with the camera, a signature and notes at each stop, and record an outcome such as delivered or failed. Proof-of-delivery reports are available as PDF or ZIP files on every plan. On OptimoRoute, proof of delivery starts on the Pro plan.
Several dispatchers on one plan
More than one person can work on the same plan at once and see each other's changes live, with undo and redo. Moving stops by hand is a drag on the timeline.
Frequently asked questions
Is Routes & Maps cheaper than OptimoRoute?
It depends on the size of your team. OptimoRoute charges per driver, so it is cheaper for one or two drivers and costs more with each driver you add. Routes & Maps charges by stops a month with unlimited drivers, so a bigger team doing the same stops pays the same. The table above works it through with current prices. Small team? We price by stops, not drivers. If our standard plans are more than you need, talk to sales about a Custom plan sized to your monthly stops.
Does Routes & Maps pick the best day for each visit, like OptimoRoute?
No. OptimoRoute's Weekly Planning chooses the day for each visit up to five weeks ahead. Routes & Maps schedules recurring visits on any cycle you set, such as weekly, monthly or "2nd Tuesday", with no limit on how far ahead, and tracks each customer's last visit, but you choose the day.
Can I move my data from OptimoRoute?
OptimoRoute exports to Excel. Import that file into Routes & Maps as CSV or Excel (.xlsx), match the columns once, and Routes & Maps remembers the layout for your next import.
Do both tools have a driver app?
Yes, both have iOS and Android apps. OptimoRoute lets drivers use the navigation app they prefer, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. The Routes & Maps app opens Google Maps or Waze for directions.
Does either tool use live traffic to plan routes?
No. OptimoRoute's FAQ says it does not consider traffic when it sequences deliveries, and Routes & Maps does not use traffic when it plans routes either.
Which is better for field service?
Both handle time windows and service times. Choose OptimoRoute if you want the software to decide which day each visit happens. Choose Routes & Maps if you schedule recurring visits on your own cycles, want to see each customer's last visit, and want unlimited technicians on one monthly price.
